Newark Mayor Cory Booker slammed the Obama campaign's ad criticizing Mitt Romney's record as the head of Bain Capital, and called for an end to"nauseating" attacks from both sides. "I have to just say from a very personal level, I'm not about to sit here and indict private equity," Booker, a Democrat, said in an appearance on NBC's "Meet The Press" on Sunday. "To me, it's just we're getting to a ridiculous point in America. Especially that I know I live in a state where pension funds, unions and other people invest in companies like Bain Capital. If you look at the totality of Bain Capital's record, they've done a lot to support businesses, to grow businesses." The ad--released last week by the Obama re-election campaign--makes Booker, who endorsed Obama for president in 2008, "very uncomfortable," he said. President Obama reached out to crucial young voters here and in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Tuesday with a promise to keep college affordable, in the first two of three campus appearances in battleground states this week spotlighting this key voting group. Speaking to capacity crowds at the University of North Carolina's flagship campus and later in the day at the University of Colorado, Obama made his case that congressional leaders must take action before July to prevent interest rates on federal student loans from doubling. On Wednesday, the president will give a similar address at the University of Iowa. "College education is one of the best investments America can make for our future," Obama said in Chapel Hill. "This is important for all of us. We can't price most Americans out of a college education. We can't make higher education a luxury. It's an economic imperative. What could possibly move Ann Romney to start using Twitter? How about an attack on her credentials as a "working" mom?It all began last night on Anderson Cooper's night time  when liberal strategist Hilary Rosen criticized Mitt Romney for leaning on his wife, Ann, when it comes to women's economic issues. Romney has previously said that he knows that the issue woman care most about is the economy, because his wife told him so. Rosen, who was formerly the head of the of the hated music lobby group the Recording Industry Association of America, criticized that approach by saying that "His wife has actually never worked a day in her life." That comment opened the door for the Romney camp, which leapt into a lightning fast counter-attack mode that included getting Ann Romney herself to fire off her first (and so far, only) tweet. Rick Santorum fought back against mounting pressure for him to exit the race on Sunday, saying conservatives are having Mitt Romney "shoved down our throat" by the Republican establishment. A steady stream of Republicans announced their backing of Romney this week, including Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, former President George H.W. Bush, and, most recently, Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson.   Speaking to reporters after a campaign event in West Bend, Wis., Santorum said the latest endorsements only prove that the GOP establishment is "getting nervous" he may win the Wisconsin primary.
